ਬਾਬਾ ਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ 27 ਜਨਵਰੀ 1682 ਈ: ਨੂੰ ਜਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਦੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਪਹੂਵਿੰਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਇਆ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਭਗਤੂ ਜੀ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਤਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਿਉਣੀ ਸੀ। ਬਾਬਾ ਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਛੋਟੀ ਉਮਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਸ਼ਾਸਤਰ ਚਲਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਪੁੰਨ ਹੋ ਗਏ। ਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਮਾਤਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਦੀਪਾ ਰੱਖਿਆ । ਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਮਾਤਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਾਉਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ 1699 ਈ: ਨੂੰ ਵਿਸਾਖੀ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਆਨੰਦਪੁਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆਏ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਬਾਬਾ ਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਛਕਿਆ। ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਮਾਤਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਤੋਂ ਆਗਿਆ ਲੈਕੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਹੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ। ਇੱਥੇ ਹੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਿੱਦਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ।
1709 ਈ: ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਈ ਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਬੰਦਾ ਬਹਾਦਰ ਦੀ ਫ਼ੌਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਰਤੀ ਹੋ ਗਏ । ਸਰਹਿੰਦ ਫਤਹਿ ਸਮੇਂ ਭਾਈ ਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਵੱਧ ਚੜਕੇ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਪਾਇਆ।
1746 ਈ: ਵਿੱਚ ਜਦੋਂ ਲਖਪਤ ਰਾਏ ਨੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਅਭਿਆਨ ਚਲਾਇਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਭਾਈ ਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਆਪਣੀ ਟੁਕੜੀ ਲੈਕੇ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ ਇਸ ਯੁੱਧ ਨੂੰ ਛੋਟਾ ਘੱਲੂਘਾਰਾ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਦੋਂ ਜਹਾਨ ਖਾਂ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਤਿਆਰੀ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ 13 ਅਪ੍ਰੈਲ 1757 ਵਿਸਾਖੀ ਦਾ ਦਿਨ ਆ ਗਿਆ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਜਹਾਨ ਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਲਾਹੌਰ ਤੋਂ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਜਹਾਨ ਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੂੜਾ ਸੁੱਟਵਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਦੋਂ ਇਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਗੁੱਸੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਯੁੱਧ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਆਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ । ਭਾਈ ਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਘਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਖੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਕੇਸਰੀ ਬਾਣਾ ਪਹਿਨ ਕੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ ਜਾਮਾ ਪੀਣ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਣ। ਬਾਬਾ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਆਦੇਸ਼ ਪਿੰਡਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਜਿਸਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਕੇ ਸਿੰਘ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੋਣ ਲੱਗੇ।
ਚੱਲਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਭਾਈ ਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਖੰਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਰੇਖਾ ਖਿੱਚੀ ਅਤੇ ਕਹਿਣ ਲੱਗੇ - ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਕੇਵਲ ਉਹੀ ਜਾਣ ਜੋ ਮੌਤ ਜਾਂ ਜਿੱਤ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਦੀ ਕਾਮਨਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਮੈਂ ਵਚਨ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਭੇਟ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ।
ਅਤੇ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਸਿੰਘ ਆਪਣਾ ਗ੍ਰਹਿਸਥੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਬਤੀਤ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਵਾਪਸ ਚਲੇ ਜਾਣ।
ਲਗਭਗ 500 ਸਿੰਘ ਖੰਡੇ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਖਿੱਚੀ ਰੇਖਾ ਪਾਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਭਾਈ ਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਾਲ ਚੱਲ ਪਏ। ਤਰਨਤਾਰਨ ਪਹੁੰਚਣ ਤੱਕ ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਖਿਆ 5000 ਹੋ ਗਈ। ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਤਿਆਰੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਖਬਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਜਹਾਨ ਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਡਰ ਗਿਆ । ਸਿੰਘ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਬਦਲਾ ਲੈਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਸਨ। ਦੋਨਾਂ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਯੁੱਧ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ
ਭਾਈ ਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ ਜਮਾਲ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਇਆ ਭਾਈ ਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ 75 ਸਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਜਮਾਲ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ 40 ਸਾਲ ਸੀ। ਜਮਾਲ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਭਾਈ ਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਦਾ ਘੋੜਾ ਜਖਮੀ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਪੈਦਲ ਹੀ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗੇ ।
ਭਾਈ ਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਜਮਾਲ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਤੇ ਵਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਵਾਰ ਉਸ ਤੇ ਅਚੁੱਕ ਰਿਹਾ ਪਰੰਤੂ ਜਦੋਂ ਜਮਾਲ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਭਾਈ ਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਤੇ ਵਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਤਾਂ ਭਾਈ ਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਸੀਸ ਅਲੱਗ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੇ ਗਿਰ ਗਿਆ ਦੋਨੋਂ ਪਾਸੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਸੈਨਾ ਇਹ ਦੇਖਕੇ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਰਹਿ ਗਈਆਂ । ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਹੀ ਕੋਲ ਖੜੇ ਦਿਆਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਬਾਬਾ ਜੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਵਚਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਸੀਸ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਭੇਟ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ , ਤੁਸੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਰਸਤੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਸਰੀਰ ਤਿਆਗ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ ਇਹ ਸੁਣਕੇ ਭਾਈ ਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਖੜੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਿੱਖ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸੱਚੇ ਮਨ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਦੇ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਹੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਖੰਡਾ ਅਤੇ ਕੱਟਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸਿਰ ਚੁੱਕ ਲਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਇੱਕ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਖੰਡਾ ਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿਰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਫਿਰ ਤੋਂ ਯੁੱਧ ਦੇ ਮੈਦਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੜਨ ਲੱਗੇ
ਜਦੋਂ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣ ਦੀ ਸੈਨਾ ਨੇ ਭਾਈ ਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਹਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੜਦੇ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਮੈਦਾਨ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਭੱਜਣ ਲੱਗੇ ਇਹ ਦੇਖਕੇ ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨੋਬਲ ਹੋਰ ਵੱਧ ਗਿਆ। ਅਤੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣ ਦੀ ਸੈਨਾ ਨੇ ਭੱਜਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਭਲਾਈ ਸਮਝੀ । ਬਾਬਾ ਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੀਸ ਲੈਕੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵੱਲ ਵਧਣ ਲੱਗੇ । ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਭਾਈ ਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾ ਵਿਰਾਜੇ।

Deep Singh's parents brought him to Anandpur Sahib on the day of Baisakhi in 1699 AD to meet Guru Gobind Singh. In those days Baba Deep Singh Ji was baptized. And with the permission of their parents, they decided to stay at the Guru's feet. It was here that he received his education.
In 1709, Bhai Deep Singh joined Banda Bahadur's army. During the conquest of Sirhind, Bhai Deep Singh Ji contributed more.
When Lakhpat Rai launched a campaign against the Sikhs in 1746, Bhai Deep Singh arrived with his detachment. This battle is called Chhota Ghalughara.
While Jahan Khan was preparing to attack the Golden Temple, the day of Baisakhi came on 13 April 1757 when Jahan Khan attacked Amritsar from Lahore. Jahan Khan threw garbage in the sacred tank. When Bhai Deep Singh Ji came to know about this, he became very angry and ordered to get ready for battle. Baba Deep Singh ji told the Singhs that those who wanted to attain the bliss of the Guru's house should wear saffron clothes and be ready to drink the martyrdom robe. Baba ji's order was conveyed to the villages and on hearing this Singh started gathering.
Before leaving, Bhai Deep Singh Ji drew a line on the ground with a dagger and said - Only those who wish for death or victory go with us. He said, "I promise that I will offer my head at the feet of Guru Darbar Sahib."
And those Singhs who want to live their domestic life should go back.
About 500 Singhs crossed the line drawn by the dagger and marched with Baba Deep Sigh. By the time they reached Tarn Taran, the number of Singhs had reached 5,000. When Jahan Khan heard of these preparations of the Sikhs, he became frightened. Singh wanted revenge on Darbar Sahib. A war broke out between the two.
Bhai Deep Singh Ji competed with Jamal Shah. Bhai Deep Singh Ji was 75 years old and Jamal Shah was 40 years old. While fighting Jamal Shah, Bhai Deep Singh's horse was injured and he started fighting on foot.
When Bhai Deep Singh Ji attacked Jamal Shah, this time he was infallible but when Jamal Shah attacked Bhai Deep Singh, Bhai Deep Singh Ji's head fell off and fell on the ground. Left. At that moment Dayal Singh standing nearby said in a loud voice that Baba ji you had promised that I would meet Sis Darbar Sahib.
Hearing that you are sacrificing your body on the way, Bhai Deep Singh stood up and said that the sincere prayers of the Sikhs are never in vain. He immediately picked up his sword and severed head. With a sword in hand and a head in one hand, they began to fight again on the battlefield.
When the enemy army saw Bhai Deep Singh fighting in this condition, they started fleeing from the field and the morale of the Singhs increased. And the enemy army understood its goodness only in fleeing. Baba Deep Singh Ji started walking towards Darbar Sahib with his head like this. Thus Bhai Deep Singh Ji sat at the feet of Guru.
